Understanding and treating Lily Toxicity in Cats

ECC | Primary Care | 57 mins

Lilies may be beautiful, but for cats, they can be deadly. Even small exposures—such as a lick of pollen or nibble of a petal—can lead to devastating acute kidney injury. This webinar explores the harsh reality of lily toxicity and why it remains one of the most critical poisonings in feline medicine.

We’ll examine why cats are so uniquely sensitive to lilies, including the mechanisms of toxicity and what makes early recognition so vital. You’ll learn best practices for decontamination—what works, when to act, and how to improve outcomes in the earliest stages.

Finally, we’ll address the challenging question: is dialysis a reasonable option in these cases? We’ll explore its indications, accessibility, and real-world considerations to help you make informed decisions in practice.

Essential for both general practitioners and emergency vets, this session will arm you with the knowledge and confidence to act fast—and give your feline patients the best possible chance in the face of this common yet devastating toxin.
