Treatment and management of paracetamol toxicity in small animals

ECC | Primary Care | 54 mins

Paracetamol (acetaminophen) is a widely used and often misunderstood drug in veterinary medicine. While it can be a valuable therapeutic tool in the right context, its misuse—especially in cats—can lead to severe toxicity and even death.

In this focused webinar, we’ll explore when paracetamol is safe, when it becomes dangerous, and why species differences matter so much. You’ll learn how to identify signs of toxicity early, what steps to take in an emergency, and how to initiate treatment that can make a real difference to outcomes.

We’ll also challenge assumptions, examining scenarios where paracetamol isn’t the culprit, helping you avoid misdiagnosis and unnecessary interventions.

This session is ideal for veterinary professionals looking to sharpen their clinical judgement around analgesia, toxicology, and emergency care. Join us to strengthen your confidence in using— and managing—paracetamol safely and effectively.
