This webinar focuses on nursing care for cardiac patients presenting as emergencies, including heart failure, pericardial effusions, arrhythmias and aortic thromboembolism. Beginning with triage skills, it goes on to look at disease processes, clinical signs associated with common emergencies, assessment, treatment and key nursing care considerations for each group. It will provide you with the knowledge needed to prepare for admission and provide appropriate nursing care for these fragile patients, including home care considerations and client support.

Emma retrained as a veterinary nurse following a career with competition horses. Emma trained in a multidisciplinary referral hospital and developed an interest in cardiology during this time. After qualifying in 2013 she went on to work full time in cardiology and pursued as much training in the area as possible; in order to further her knowledge and improve her skills. Emma attained the Veterinary Technician Specialty (VTS) in cardiology in 2021 Emma Currently works at Sarah Smith Cardiology Referrals in Derbyshire as senior cardiology nurse. Emma is passionate about providing the best possible level of care for patients whilst in practice and providing support and advice to clients for homecare.
