The oral examination is an important part of the clinical examination and should be performed routinely when patient’s present for consultations. However, there is a different process involved when performing an oral examination under general anaesthesia during dental procedures.  This webinar discusses what is needed to perform a through oral examination, how to perform this, what abnormalities we may find and how to identify and record these. The webinar is beneficial for registered veterinary nurses who are involved in dentistry procedures and would like to increase their knowledge in recognising and recording oral pathology

Claire Harrison

Claire is the Dentistry Nurse at the Hospital for Small Animals, Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies in Edinburgh and joined the hospital in 2018. Prior to this, she has worked in general practice and veterinary dental referral practice. Claire qualified as an RVN in 2005 from Napier University’s veterinary nursing programme. She gained her Veterinary Technician Specialty (Dentistry) in 2013 and is an active member of the Academy of Veterinary Dental Technicians (AVDT). Claire is an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and with her interest in small animal dentistry, enjoys teaching vets, nurses and students.
