Dealing with ‘Ethylene Glycol’ toxicity in small animal practice

ECC | Primary Care | 56 mins

Ethylene glycol toxicity remains one of the most serious and time-sensitive toxicological emergencies in veterinary medicine. Found in common antifreeze products, this sweet-tasting but deadly substance can cause rapid and irreversible kidney failure if not caught and treated early.

In this eye-opening webinar, we’ll review the current understanding of the pathophysiology behind ethylene glycol poisoning—what happens in the body and why it’s so dangerous. You’ll learn to identify the stages of toxicity, recognize clinical signs, and understand which interventions are effective at each phase of the disease.

We’ll also tackle the big question: do any treatments really work? From traditional antidotes to more unconventional options (yes, including vodka), this session will explore what’s supported by evidence and what’s just hopeful thinking.

Designed for vets in both general and emergency practice, this webinar will leave you better prepared to respond decisively to one of the most critical poisonings seen in small animals.
