Hi everyone!
I’m Laura and I’m one of the speakers on the course – my job is to (hopefully!) show you all of the possibilities nurse clinics bring – and that they don’t just have to be post-op checks or dental clinics! I’m really looking forward to chatting to you through the course, please feel free to post any questions here and I’ll do my best to help with your clinic queries!
When I’m not chatting about nurse clinics, I’m also a full-time RVN in practice, currently working in a referral hospital in the internal medicine team 🙂
Looking forward to chatting to you all soon!
Laura xHi everyone and welcome to the course!
I’m Laura Jones and you’ll hear me chatting (a lot…) about tubes, lines and drains in this course. I’m an RVN working in a private small animal referral clinic. I work in our internal medicine department and gained my small animal medicine VTS certification a few years ago. I really hope you enjoy the course as much as I enjoyed being part of it! Any questions at all, fire away either here or on the Q&A call. Looking forward to chatting to you all! Laura xThis is really interesting. We personally crossmatch (commercial kit) before all feline transfusions but do keep a small stock of pRBCs (2-3 units) so we aren’t as limited as we once were. We did have one case a few months ago which was incompatible with every unit we had (in the end we did an external crossmatch at the blood bank, and he was actually only compatible with 1 unit there) despite being the first transfusion, and all units type matched. Thankfully he began regenerating and didn’t require transfusion in the end.
