Just about to start a journey into primary clinical practice after years in ECC and out of hours work! DOnt get a lot of emergency dentals and have rarely used a dental xray so this is all a necessary field of learning for me! Very clear lectures by the way so enjoyin it thus far.
That is really interesting
I dont usually use adjunctive interventions other than calcium gluconate and have had, anecdotally, good success. Addressing the perfusion issues is number onehello, I am Rosie, working in ECC, looking for some refreshers and updates and tips for endocrine crises:-)

I have had one of these cases a few weeks ago and we put to sleep after offering transfusion as she was so sick and weak and bleeding into gi tract. I was concerned for panleucopaenia virus as unvaccinated and pyrexic and they had other cats. if I had known then I would have probably pushed harder for the transfusion to try although prognosis was looking pants. Looking forward to an answer here of the cause. I had thought maybe an oestrogen but sounds like they have ruled that out according to your information above.
i often use just Chlorphenamine alone iv , in fact probably 95% of the time, and this seems to have been pretty successful. I do however suffer from steroidophobia.
Occasionally if severe reaction will add in steroid…we use the carbodote, It costs a fortune (several bottles) for larger dogs.
That is an amazing picture. In would have never believed that would be possible. It illustrates how a prostatic infection could seriously cause a sepsis!
