Brilliant, thank you.
Hello
How do we join the session this evening?Hi Helen
Lesson 6 was great! Team dynamics is a fascinating concept, and very often makes the difference between the perceived success or failure of a task. Motivational tools also need to be adapted depending on the team dynamic and situational conditions. I often reflect on my time in the military, where safety and success depended almost entirely on team culture, trust, and collective motivation, alongside effective leadership and planning.
Motivating a team in a veterinary setting can be challenging and multifactorial, as situational awareness and psychological safety can be impacted and influenced by the team dynamics on a particular day. However, by looking at the bigger picture, and acknowledging that we are all in the profession for the common goal of patient safety, and to achieve the highest clinical outcomes for our patients, and by reflecting on our collective and individual aims and desired outcomes, we can help to drive motivation over the longer term.-

Hello Helen, I really enjoyed this weeks lesson. Empathy, compassion and trust are all integral to leadership and are qualities which I feel we should reflect on regularly, and continue to develop with an open mind.

Really enjoyed this week, lots to think about. Transactional Analysis and the PAC (Ego State) communication framework is fascinating and I can really see how it can influence the outcome of a communication at work.
I was listening to the ‘I am’ podcast this morning, on the way to see my first patient. I like his podcasts and he also did one last year about High Performance which is really insightful too

Thanks for sharing this Helen. I have just listened and really enjoyed it. ‘Everyone is someones precious child’ – what a great way for us to view our colleagues. I agree that we should definitely learn to listen better and be more aware of the circle of safety. I love the notion that caring is contagious and that our product is our people.
Hello All
Just wanted to say how much I have enjoyed the first week. Lots of thought provoking concepts, systems and ideas to consider and reflect on. Psychological safety is so very important for ourselves and our teams, and so developing a strong culture of respect, trust and openness can aid to define how skillful we become as leaders and the overall success of our teams. I find Human Factors fascinating, and feel that maybe the importance of this has been previously unrepresented, and is something we need to get better at.Hello, I’m Kirsty, a Head Nurse with The Vet Connection. Qualified 30 yrs, I live in Devon where I also run my own veterinary rehabilitation business. In my spare time I volunteer with Canine Arthritis Management and StreetVet. Last year I trained as a Mental health First Aider. I am really looking forward to this course and hoping to become better at being an effective and compassionate leader.
