Hi Scott, thanks for a great first lesson. When reading textbooks etc any blood changes are often referred to by degree of magnitude e.g. a mild neutrophilia, a moderate increase in liver enzymes etc. Are there any guidelines as to what values consistent a mild/moderate/severe change in various parameters? I find it difficult when I read than in a certain condition there is likely to be e.g. a marked change in some parameter, and I’ve just got a number in front of me and yes it’s increased but is it a mild or a severe change?! (if that makes sense) I’ve not been able to find any helpful resource on this topic. Thanks 🙂
Hi I’m Kathryn. I qualified in 2010 and have spent a lot of time in non-clinical roles/mat leave, so I’m trying to get up to date as I feel very rusty! I work in a lovely small animal practice in North East England 🙂

With the weird history of precipitation by strenuous exercise but recovering uneventfully I’d be wondering whether could be a PFK deficiency rather than something like an IMHA?
Is there a urine sample from when the dog is showing clinical signs, to assess the cause of the pigmenturia?
Could you use this topically for dental haemorrhage?
Looks like mainly large lymphocytes (larger than RBC). The weird pink stripy type structures I know now are broken cells. I’m not sure what the really massive cells are that look like a cut in half kiwi – massive lymphocytes?! I can’t see any other unexpected cell types so I don’t think it’s infiltrative. I would veer towards lymphoma, doesn’t look a reactive picture.
