Frederic Gaschen
Dr. Frederic Gaschen is a University of Bern, Switzerland graduate and a Diplomate of the American and European Colleges of Veterinary Internal Medicine (ACVM and ECVIM-CA). After teaching at the Veterinary Faculty of Bern, Switzerland, he moved to the USA years ago. He is now a professor of small animal medicine and service chief at Louisiana State University School of Veterinary Medicine in the USA.
Frederic is passionate about canine and feline gastroenterology. He was recently awarded the title of Fellow of the American Gastroenterological Association. He has directed and published numerous studies on chronic enteropathies, digestive motility, and the impact of antibiotics on the gut microbiome in dogs and cats. He loves sharing his passion with his students, interns, residents, and colleagues at LSU and fellow veterinarians at congresses worldwide.
Frederic has contributed to numerous books and recently co-edited and co-authored the 4th edition of “Clinical Medicine of the Dog and Cat” with his colleagues Michael Schaer and Stuart Walton. He has served on committees of various professional associations for many years.
