Emergency Surgery Essentials: A practical workshop for small animal veterinarians
This practical course is designed to equip you with the knowledge and practical skills necessary to effectively handle common surgical emergencies in everyday small animal practice. Cadaveric surgery and pragmatic surgical tips and tricks will enhance your decision-making and technical abilities. Key take home skills include:
- Placing and managing tracheostomy tubes
- Reviewing abdominal anatomy and confidence with a thorough exploratory coeliotomy
- Procedural confidence with gastrotomy, gastrectomy and gastropexy
- Practice simple continuous intestinal resection and anastomosis with review of indication and method for intestinal stapling
- Perform splenectomy and manage abdominal bleeding
- Perform cystostomy tube placement and recognised the indications
This surgical practical day will provide you with 9 hours of CPD.
